Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) was deprived of Qiyam al-Layl for six months because of thinking negatively (su’ dhann) of one of his companions. After that, whenever he saw a person, he would tell himself that this person is the Qutb. Later, a man saw al-Nawawi in his dream in a beautiful state. He asked: who is this? He was told: It is the Qutb! The man came to him in his lesson, but when Imam Nawawi saw him he said to him: Keep what you know to yourself.
Look! He became a Qutb because of Husn al-Dhann (thinking good of others). No person should look down at any of the Muslims, because a small Muslim is big in the sight of Allah (most high).
