The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“I encourage you to pray at night (qiyam al-layl), for it was the way of the righteous who came before you. Praying at night draws you nearer to your Lord, stops you from evil, atones for your sins, and chases sickness away from the body.”
(Narrated by Tirmidhi.)
Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari (may Allah be pleased with him) said in one of his litanies, addressing his Creator, “You show lutf (gentle care) to those who stay up at night in prayer, and grant them good health in their bodies.”
